Megumi just doesn't sit right fro two reasons one reason she is still underage 2 Megumi's feeling for Ayato aren't nearly as deep as Haruka's since Megumi started liking Ayato after she found her first love was taken.
Older Haruka sits just fine since RahXephon is a sotry about trials of love and in the end Ayato and Haruka are the same age.
